1. Every teaching and non-teaching employee shall be governed by the code of conduct as described below and on the violation of any provisions of such code of conduct; the employee shall be liable to disciplinary action.
2. Every mentor has an immense responsibility towards pupils. He/ she must: –
- a. Be impartial in his/her relations; be sympathetic and helpful to slow learners.
- b. Aim to improve physical, mental and moral well being of pupils leading to
overall personality development. - c. Ensure that pupils do not take part in active politics.
- d. Promote freedom of thought and expression coupled with discipline and
dignity.
3. The employees should:-
- a. Abide by the rules and regulations of the school and show due respect to the
constituted authority and diligently carry out instructions issued to him/her. - b. Be temperate and sober in habits. He/she should scrupulously avoid chewing of betel
leaves, smoking and such other undesirable habits in the presence of students and
within the precincts of the school. - c. Co-operate with and secure the co-operation of other persons in all activities, which
aim at the improvement of the moral, mental, social and physical well being of pupils. - d. Be neat & clean and dressed in a dignified manner, not casual and informal, while on
duty. He/she should on no account be dressed so as to become an object of excitement
or ridicule or pity at the hands of the students and his/her colleagues. - e. Inform the immediate superior, if an employee is convicted by a Court of Law or
arrested, and the circumstances connected there with, as soon as it is possible for
him/her to do so. Failure to do so will be regarded as deliberate suppression of material
information. - f. Have an exemplary moral character. His/Her dealings with the members of the other
sex in the school or outside it, should not be such as would cause reflection on his/her
character or bring discredit to the school. - g. Be punctual in attendance and all work related to class work and any other work or
duty assigned to him/her by the Principal or the Vice Principal. - h. Consider school property and funds as if placed in trust with him/her and shall exercise
the same prudence and care, as he/she would do in respect of his/her own property or
funds.
4. A mentor must not be found guilty of:
- a. Use of abusive language, quarrelsome and riotous behaviour.
- b. Insubordination and defiance of lawful order.
- c. Distrustful behaviour, rumour mongering and character assassination and any
conduct which involves moral turpitude. - d. Making false accusations or assault either provoked or otherwise.
- e. Embezzlement of funds or misappropriation of school property or theft or fraud.
- f. Possession in school premises of weapon, explosive and other objectionable
materials. - g. Misbehaviour or cruelty towards any parent, guardian, student, teacher or
other employee of the school. - h. Using mobiles for making or attending phone calls or chatting on Facebook or
Whatsapp.
5. A mentor must not:
- a. Propagate through his/her teaching lesson or otherwise, communal or sectarian outlook
or incite or allow any student to indulge/practice casteism, communalism or
untouchability. - b. Discriminate against any student on the ground of caste, creed, language, place of
origin, social and cultural background or and any of them. - c. Remain absent from the school without leave or without the previous permission of the
head of the school or while being present in the school absent himself/herself (except
with the prior permission of the Principal) from the class which he/she is required to
attend. - d. Indulge in or encourage any form of malpractice connected with examinations or other
school activities. Confidential matters relating to the institution and the Department
shall not be divulged by any employee. - e. Accept or permit any member of his/her family or any other person acting on his/her
behalf to accept any gift from any pupil, parent or any person with whom he/she has
come into contact by virtue of his/her position in the school. - f. Represent his/her grievances if any, except through proper channel, nor will he/she
canvass any non-official or outside influence or support in respect of any matter
pertaining to his/her service in the school. - g. Ask for or accept contribution to or otherwise associate with the raising of any funds or
other collections in cash or in kind in pursuance of any object, whatsoever, except with
previous sanction of the competent authority. - h. Carry out monetary transactions with the pupils and parents and/ or exploit his/her
school influence for personal ends. - i. Mutilate / destroy school records and property.
- j. Be a member of any political party or indulge in activities either openly or in camera in
support of any such party. He/she shall also not have any association with either any
political party or any such organization. He/she shall resign his/her job before standing
for election as a candidate. - k. Prepare or publish any text-book or keys or assist directly or indirectly in their
preparation without obtaining prior approval of the school, or engage himself/herself as
a selling agent or canvasser for any publishing firm/trader or use such publications. - l. Apply for an assignment or job outside the school direct. He/she shall invariably
forward his/her application through proper channel. - m. Engage himself / herself in any commercial activity/ Undertake private tuition of
students of the school or as a selling agent/ canvasser for any publishing firm or trader
in school campus. - n. Remain absent from the school without leave or without the previous permission of the
head of the school or while being present in the school absent himself/herself (except
with the prior permission of the principal) from the class which he/she is required to
attend. - o. Indulge in or encouraging any form of malpractice connected with examination or
other school activities. - p. Divulge confidential matters relating to school.
- q. Obstruct other members of the staff from lawful duties and indulge in any sort of
agitation to coerce or embarrass the school authorities. - r. Propagate through teaching lessons or otherwise communal or sectarian outlook or
incite or allow any student to indulge in communal or sectarian activity. - s. Make sustained neglect in correcting class work or home work.
- t. Take private tuitions without permission of school authorities.
Maintenance of Record by the Mentors
A Mentor is expected to maintain the following documents and also any other record as may be
specified from time to time:
- (a) Attendance Register of the class for which he/she is the in charge.
- (b) Personal Log Book and Class Log Book, Programme of Instruction and Lesson Plans.
- (c) Cumulative result of his class.
- (d) Attendance Diary of optional subjects in case of mentors teaching such optional subjects.
- (e) Stock Register of properties held by him/her.
- (f) CRB (Cumulative Record Book) of the class for which he/she is a class mentor.
Representations
- (a) Representation to the Managing Committee, Chairman of the Society or Manager may be made
only through Principal or Vice Principal in case of mentors/other employees. - (b) The Principal may submit his representation to Managing Committee/Chairman of the Society
through his next higher up – Manager/Correspondent of the School.
Working Days and Working Hours
- (a) The working days and holidays will be as per school rules.
- (b) The working hours will be such as may be specified from time to time by the Principal.
- (c) Working hours may be different for teaching and non- teaching staff as may be specified by the
Principal. - (d) As and when required an employee may be assigned any special duty even if it is to be done
beyond the normal working hours in the interest of the school. - (e) An employee is also required to conduct and organise co-curricular programmes and perform
other duties even beyond the normal working hours.
